Chanel Healthy Glow

| Review | Favourite Products from the Chanel Healthy Glow Range

The Chanel Healthy Glow range is a collection of roughly 10 fresh-face beauty staples.  I will be reviewing the Les Beiges Tinted Moisturiser and the Le Blanc Multiuse Illuminating Base.  I originally purchased these two products about a year ago, and repurchased the Chanel Tinted Moisturiser since.  ‘Healthy Glow’ is 100% the perfect name for this makeup line, which has been formulated to add warmth and radiance and … well a healthy glow!!

Les Beiges Tinted Moisturiser

As always we start from what we see at first glance! Packaging wise – it’s just such a gorgeous little bottle! It has the iconic Chanel logo in gold on the black lid, which stands out elegantly in your makeup bag. Once you remove the lid you will find a tube-like dispenser tip that allows you to easily control the amount of product you need.  I don’t ever have wastage with this product.

I have the shade Medium. While I am a lighter skin tone, a *PRO TIP* I picked up at the Chanel counter is to choose a tinted moisturiser that is half or a full shade deeper than your true match. Because the product is a sheer coverage, I promise that you won’t turn into an orange fruit face. But rather, the slightly deeper shade will add a bronzed warmth to your skin as though you have been out in the sun all summer.

This Chanel tinted moisturiser does exactly what it claims to do.  For me it particular evens out my complexion, gives a lightweight sheer coverage, additional hydration and a healthy glowy radiance to my skin. It blends beautifully into skin, without streaking or pilling or doing anything strange. And I only need a pea sized amount for my face each day. It really does give you a healthy glow and feels very comfortable to wear.

Blended into the back of my hand to add a warm bronzed healthy glow to the skin.

It wears well, I would say it lasts a working day.  As with all tinted moisturisers I have tried, it does fade as the day goes on but in a very natural and even way. No blotchiness or patches. I also love the added skincare benefit, containing Hyaluronic acid derivatives that hold moisture in the skin for optimal hydration. This really adds to the comfort of the product and caters for my dry skin type. It also has SPF30, but because you only need to use a small amount of this product I would also recommend always applying your usual SPF underneath.

Application – I use my fingers! I put a pea sized amount on the back of my hand, dot this around my face and blend with my fingers. Because it’s so sheer (and expensive) I don’t want the sponge to absorb it all up and find I just prefer to use my fingers over a brush with this product.

Le Blanc De Chanel Multiuse Illuminating Base

This iconic base has been around for a long time, and Chanel claims it is a favourite of professional makeup artists.  A year ago I visited a friend who had this sitting on her makeup dresser and asked to try it.  Well, it’s safe to say I used it every day for the week I was there and purchased this duty free on my way home

How beautiful is this little bottle? Again, the iconic Chanel logo and this weighted glass bottle ooze luxury. It has a little pump allowing you to dispense the perfect amount of product.  Sometimes I will apply this all over the face and other days just under my eyes. It can also be used as an extra glowy treat for your cheeks and high points of the face.

One shade fits all! While it is multiuse, I feel that the main function of this product is to act as a brightening primer. It is white in the bottle, but it melts and blends into skin and doesn’t leave a white colour behind or any white streaks.

This really does melt into skin. It leaves your skin feeling very smooth with an almost soft satin texture. Your face looks brighter, more refreshed and the high points of your face catch in the light with a beautiful glow.

Le Blanc De Chanel blended beautifully into the skin and adding a soft glow.

I love using this on weekends and no-makeup days because it evens out my skin tone and adds a fresh brightness to the skin. Then I just add in a little concealer under my eyes and pop of mascara – and I’m ready for the day!

As a primer, I can definitely say that I have experienced longer wear time of makeup when using this product.  If I have an event on or evening out planned, this is my go-to primer.  Foundation and concealer apply effortlessly on top of this, and it definitely prolongs the wear time of makeup, particularly around the nose and smile lines where I am usually prone to breakdown first.

I have genetic dark circles that are deep set, so even sometimes with concealer I look like I have had no sleep! Chanel claims this product is colour correcting under the eyes, but I think this just adds a brightness and evens skin tone, so not quite as claimed but it certainly improves the under eye area.

So, if you’re looking for a multipurpose primer and haven’t found ‘the one’ yet then definitely check this out.  One thing I will add, is it’s not a hydrating primer. I have a dry skin type and don’t find this adds extra hydration to my skin.  So make sure you still use a good hydrating moisturiser underneath, especially if you’re going to be wearing fuller coverage makeup.

You can purchase Chanel at Smith & Caughey’s, in-store and online.  Or the new David Jones in Newmarket also stock Chanel skincare and makeup.  I initially purchased these products duty free, which is another option (and a money-saving one!) once international travel resumes.  Weird times in 2020!

The Chanel Tinted Moisturiser is a 30ml bottle and retails for $94 NZD. This is definitely a splurge for me, and I have repurchased in the past when other face products have not been working/exciting and I felt a need to return to a reliable old favourite.

The Chanel Le Blanc Illuminating Base is also a 30ml bottle and retails for $82.  A little goes a long way, so although it’s pricey it does last.  If you have tried a few primers and not found ‘the one’ I do recommend trying this product.  It is certainly multiuse and looks beautiful on skin.

I would love to try other Chanel products from the Healthy Glow line. One product I am eyeing out is their Healthy Glow Powder – the packaging looks gorgeous and I just wonder if it is actually suitable for dry skin. Have you tried this powder?  Let me know what your favourite Chanel products are, I would love to know!
